Design Brief:
A planting design for a new build garden in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. When we first arrived, this small South facing sunny back garden was a blank canvas. The client’s shed was in one corner and the back of the garden was filled with lots of subbase intended for summerhouse base. The client wanted curved borders in front of their boundary fence and a border close to their generous patio to soften the space. There were existing plants in pots which the client was keen to incorporate into new borders. We created a planting design which was layered and wildlife friendly as well as colourful.

Planting Design for Inverurie New Build Garden

After
We designed generous curved borders to create a circular lawn area. This made the garden flow better with the existing shed left in the corner of the garden. The landscaper removed the hard core to create the new borders along the rear fence and new lawn turf installed. We planted colourful and scented perennials and herbs next to the patio for our client to enjoy during the long summer evenings. We specified shadier planting along the fence to the rear of the garden including an acer, climbers, shrubs and perennials. The border along the fence adjoined to the neighbouring property has been planted with climbers to clothe the fence and perennials in a yellow and blue colour theme.
