Inverurie Garden – Planting Design

Design Brief:

A planting design for a garden in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.  The client’s property is a new build house on the outskirts of Inverurie.  The back garden is South facing with lots of sun throughout the day. It has a large lounge area with views across the back garden which were looking at the fence. Firstly we designed new sweeping generous borders in front of the existing fence line. The client wanted a planting palette in cooler colours. So secondly we specified plants for these borders in cooler colours of purple, blues, pinks and whites. Finally we introduced some obelisks into the space so that the client could grow climbing roses and clematis. These create a vertical accent to the border and can be viewed from the lounge windows.

After

In the back garden, we designed a large sweeping border around the perimeter of the garden in front of the fence. These were planted with evergreen shrubs and perennials with white, blue, purple and pink blooms. Climbing roses ‘Claire Austin’ and ‘Mortimer Sackler’ and Clematis ‘Guernsey Cream’ now scramble up 3 pergolas to create height in the garden and can be viewed from the lounge windows.
