Design Brief:
A planting design for a North facing front garden and South facing back garden in Cults, Aberdeen.
The front garden is North facing. The clients were keen to introduce some hot colours in new borders in the front garden. This made the entrance to their property more inviting to come home to. The back garden is South facing. It had a large patio next to the house and the clients had a new summerhouse in the garden. New sweeping curved borders were created and plants introduced in cooler colours of purple, blues, pinks and whites. We also introduced an espalier apple tree which can be trained against one of the walls in the garden.

After
In the front garden we designed a teardrop shaped and circular bed full of shrubs and perennials in yellow, red and orange. Planting was designed to tolerate the shady conditions in this North facing area.
In the back garden, we designed a large sweeping border across the width of the garden with shrubs and perennials in white, blue, purple and pink. We also designed a curved border next to the patio full of scented and perennial grasses to be a statement in this area.
